Licence SV - International program
GOALS
The International Program in Life Sciences aims to prepare students for international mobility as part of their bachelor’s studies. It allows students to get accustomed with lessons in English during their second year (L2), and to guide them towards a year of schooling or a long internship in a laboratory abroad during their third year (L3).
This program also makes it possible to welcome foreign students in L2 wishing to follow part of their lessons in English. Students integrate this program at the end of the 1st year as presented in the model belows.
STRUCTURE
During the 2nd year (L2), the lectures (in French), are shared with the students of the "regular" curriculum. In complement, the majority of tutorial and practical work are taught in English (see the Program tab). In addition, students receive reinforced instruction in English (+ 10h) in semesters 3 and 4. The reinforcement in semester 3 aims to support students in their mobility project for L3 and in semester 4, to support students in their scientific project (SV4.3f Scientific project).
In L3, the students aim to follow all or part of their education abroad, either in a European university using the Erasmus program network or in a university outside Europe. For students who choose not to follow their education abroad, the international program diploma can only be validated if they have completed an internship of at least 8 weeks abroad..
SECOND YEAR: PROGRAM IN LIFE SCIENCES
In L2, the lectures, in French, are shared with the students of the "regular" curriculum. In complement, the majority of seminar and practical work are taught in English.
- SV4.3f Scientific Project:
This teaching is a scientific deepening in the form of tutoring of a group of students by a teacher. Students must write a dissertation in English on a specific topic.
An oral presentation in English in front of a jury of scientists and teachers will finalize the students' work.
- SV3.4/4.4 Interdisciplinary Skills:
Reinforcement in English (+ 10h) each semester.
The reinforcement in semester 3 aims to support students in their mobility project for L3 and in semester 4, to support students in their Scientific project (SV4.3f).
THIRD YEAR: INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY
In L3, students aim to follow all (5th and 6th semester) or in part (5th or 6th semester) their education abroad, either in a European university through the Erasmus network or in a university outside Europe. For students who choose not to follow their education abroad, the international program diploma can only be validated if they have completed an internship of at least 8 weeks abroad.
STUDY ABROAD
Europe
Students can go on an Erasmus exchange in United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Finland, Italy, Norway and Sweden (see map).

INTERNSHIP ABROAD
Students can do an internship abroad in a laboratory for at least 8 weeks. Students make their own choice of the internship and destination, in consultation with the teaching staff of the international program. The internship has to take place between 2nd and 3rd year, and is assessed by an internship report as well as an oral in English. In the case where a student chosen to do an internship abroad, he continues his studies in the regular 3rd year life sciences curriculum at Tours University. The validation of the internship validates module 1 of the first semester of L3 (8 ECTS credits). The other modules must be validated under the regular Life Sciences 3rd year program.
